Bag Balm and Horses...?
I saw this article earlier today: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100131/ap_on_re_us/us...
and I figure it could be very useful in the barn. I'm going to get a tin and use it on my mare's chest and belly once the spring bugs come out. What do you (individually) use it for? What are some other practical applications at the barn?
Just curious :)

I use bag balm and Corona for every thing from cuts, scratches, deep wounds, ect. You name it and either one helps. Bag balm or Corona really works well. Both products make me happy with my horses. I also will use neosporin with pain relief in it for little cuts and things and it helps also. Hope this answers you question and helped you! Good luck!

With my mare we use Bag Balm for small scratches, cuts, scrapes and other small injuries and I find it very helpful for fly bites and other horse bites. It puts a nice cover over the wound which helps it heal but also keeps pesky flies off and protects it from being exposed to the elements which your horse will be thankful for. Very helpful for a horse that likes getting itself into trouble :) . But be warned it does get a bit messy especially in the Summer when it seems to ``melt`` and goop all over the horses coat which is difficult to get out. But I would say it`s alot less messy than Blue Lotion which doesn`t seem to ever leave my Paint horse`s white coat.

Omg I love Bag Balm. It works to good. I use it for everything besides burns. It's great.
It may sound gross but it helps people cuts heal fastly, too.

I even have used it on my teenagers. My mom used it on us teenagers. it is super for healing up sores of all kinds. It replaced into initially used to heal cracked udders on cows. It is presented in a green tin can. you may get it at WalMart. i'm specific different places carry it too.

Don't put it on your horses coat. You will never get it back out unless you spend half an hour with a sweat scraper and towel, and it will get caked with dirt. Use something else if you want to do that.
