Check rates at the Excalibur, Imperial Palace, Luxor and the Flamingo. Book directly from the hotels and use promo codes to get the lowest rates. Here are some codes

Bill's Gambling Saloon, Bally's or Monte Carlo.
They should not be spending that much time in the room anyway.
If still too high, bid on priceline.

Harrahs or the Rio. Both are reasonable. There is a shuttle that runs between the two as well.
