Is anyone else surprised by the BBC pronunciation of Haiti and Port au Prince?

I'm not fluent in Creole, but it seems odd for a former French colony.

(And yes I have donated, before I get a load of abuse.)

It is the rule that when you are speaking to your own people (Brits) you pronounce words in the way it is done in our country. But when you go abroad, you should pronounce them as they do in their country, or it smacks of arrogance.

Incidentally the BBC should use "Myanmar" and not "Burma" in their overseas broadcasts. It is most arrogant and uninformed of them to keep using the old name Burma. They don't call Sri Lanka Ceylon, or Zimbabwe Rhodesia.
