not much of a difference. I don't even know there was a 3rd Generation but I think it's the space capacity. like 40GB if I'm not mistaken.

The 2nd generation has worse processors, graphics units and battery. For $188, I would get that. It's pretty cheap, well $11 but still, it's cheaper. Basically, the 3rd generation has the internal components (like processor and RAM) of the iPhone 3GS, in which the 'S' is for Speed. so the 3rd gen is faster than the 2nd gen. RAM (random access memory) is the internal memory that any computing (not sure of the right word here) can access to use up to do tasks at any point in time, in any order, hence the random. It is a piece of data that is quicker to access than a DVD or the hard disk for example.

Well the 8gb 2nf gen iPod touch and the 8gb 3rd gen iPod touch are almost exactly the same but the 3rd ipod's software has been updated. The 32gb and the 64gb iPod has a 50% faster performance, voice control, updated software andbi think improved graphics too

Not much of a difference. The 2nd gen has a new 3.0 software that makes it almost exactly like it. The difference is the graphics, speed and you get headphones+mic if you buy the 16GB+

They are exactly the same.
Both 2gen and 3gen have bluetooth.
The only difference is on the 32 and 64 gb 3gen ipod touch, and those have (I believe) a 50 or 150% faster processor, I forget.
That's really, seriously the only difference

-Faster CPU (should be roughly the same as the new 3GS processor)
-OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics support
-Apple inline remote support
-VoiceOver (voice control)
-Increase in capacity option up to 64GB
In short, there is very little difference this time around.
