How do I text or phone a NZ mobile from an Australia mobile?
Hi. How do I phone a NZ mobile from an Australia mobile ?
What I actually want to do is text the person in NZ rather than call, as I suspect it will be cheaper.
I would normally call on the land line to land line by selecting
0011 +64 (country code) followed by (area code) then the land line number.
If I text mobile from Australia to mobile in NZ do I
select +64 (country code) and disregard both 0011 and area code and then follow directly with mobile number by dropping first 0 - ie meaning +64 021xxxxxx becomes +64 21xxxxxx ?
Can you please advise as I would like to store the overseas (NZ) mobile number in my (Aust) mobile phone.
Thanks in advance for your help.
PS: My mobile phone is prepaid also..not sure if it makes a difference
Not too sure what you mean are you saying that
+64 replaces first two digits of phone number ?
+64 1xxxxxx instead of +64 21 xxx xxx when the original mobile start off as 021 xxx xxx

64 replaces the first 2 digits of the mobile number.
The phone number is say, 1234 567 890
I have to press & hold my zero to get the + symbol, then 6434 567 890.
You just need to find which key is your + symbol.

You phone her as if she is in NZ she picks up an extra charge for it you pay for calling a NZ mobile number so you dial 001164 then the mobile number but not the first zero of the mobile number so her number probably starts with02 so 0011642 and the rest of the number. She would've had to arrange international roaming for Australia

Yes. You need the New Zealand area code in order to text them. Although beware, international text messages also cost extra unless you have the international texting plan.
