What color should we paint our family room?

We just recently bought a house and we want to paint before we move in. The house is very open and if your sitting in the dining room you can see both the living room and the family room. We're painting the dining room/kitchen a reddish color and the living room is going to be a light green with chair rail all around and we're going to sponge on a darker green on the bottom of the wall. What do you think would be a good color for the family room that would also blend in with the other colors? Also the carpet in the family room is green.

well, I would honestly say that you already have a lot of color going on there so I would take a very creamy white or light beige and do that in the family room. Then make that room your canvas for accessories and bright prints or paintings that bring together the other colors that you see in the other rooms. If you notice in magazines they will typically have very pale color rooms and the furniture and lamps etc seem to POP so much more. There is a color by benjamin moore called Muslin white? I may have that wrong, but it is a very classy pale cream. go do a search and find a room using that color. Good luck.

I would go or a wood-like tone to chocolate or espresso browns. This would complement your carpet and also will harmlessly blend with your other rooms. Take a look here http://www.premierfieldservices.biz/sitebuildercon...

I would also consider a dark caramel as an option.

    Have fun!

With 2 hard colors presenting and a green rug in that room you want to soften the pallet down a bit. You want to do this without making the family room disappear. You already have a green rug in there.

I would go with a deeper beige with red hues http://www.farrow-ball.com/productdetails.aspx?pid... Then address the window treatments and area rug to tie the three rooms together. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/411iDUd%2BVT...

I think you should paint it a tan or brownish color. those colors you already have sound really cool and I think a nice light-ish neutral color would go good with that. =] for the shades of tan, i would go towards the dark or medium shades. i think it would look really good.

    good luck! =]

A nice, yet warm earthy tone because you have a colored carpet.
