Mommies, slings and wraps?
Okay my son is about to be 6 months in 2 weeks. He wants to be carried all the time by me, I don't mind but the only problem is he weighs so much now and I have back problems. I had a slipped disc in cheerleading about 5 years ago and I still get occassionaly back pain and with him I feel it more and its painful. My arms get so tired aswell.
For his age, what sling would work?? I was curious with the mobywrap cuz i heard so much good stuff of that one.
In your opinion, which sling/wraps are worth it?

I have a heart-2-heart sling and a Moby Wrap. The sling sits on the closet floor. I hate it. Kills my back and I have to fight to get her in it...she hates it too. I love her Moby Wrap though. Its great. It came with a book of different holds, the website has helpful videos and it doesnt hurt my back at all. I can wrap her tightly if I need to get chores done and she is napping or I can do it more loosly so she can be free and look around for shopping and walks and stuff. I also love that I can tie it on before going shopping or something so I just have to slip her in when I get there. It washes easily and I never had trouble tying it. Got it down from the first try. It is alot of farbic though so if you are really short and tiny it might seem overwhelming to you though I dont see why you couldnt cut it and just sew the ends if it was too too long.

I've had a ring sling, a pouch, and a Mei Tai. The ring sling and pouch were both nice, but I cannot say enough good things about my Mei Tai carrier. I love love love it!
I got it when my middle child was about 8 months old, and I could carry her in the front for a month or so and then started putting her on my back. She was snug and happy, and it was no harder than carrying a backpack. I could take walks, do housework, chase my 2-year-old, etc. It was perfect for things like trips to the zoo, too. My husband would wear our bulky hiking backpack with our younger daughter in it, and I'd carry our older daughter (then 3-4 years old) in the Mei Tai on my back when she got tired of walking. Again, it was no different than carrying a backpack and actually easier than just piggybacking her with my arms to hold her up b/c I had support from the material across my shoulders.
I carried my youngest in it on my chest right from birth, and he probably rode in it for 1-3 hours every day until he was nearly a year old. (Of course, he moved to my back once he was too heavy for the front carry.) He'd just put his head down and nap while I grocery shopped, walked at the park, or did whatever I needed to do.
I bought mine from a WAHM for about $30, I think, but that was almost 5 years ago. If you or someone you know sews, you can also find fairly simple instructions for a variety of slings online, so you can make your own.
