When boiling eggs, what does it mean when an egg floats to the top?
My neighbor called me and asked this question. I told her that I think that it means that the egg is bad.

It means the egg is off.
As time has gone by, air has managed to get into the egg which makes it float.

im not quite sure i just know i boil my eggs 10 min shut it off let it set for 5 then run cold water over them and peel them. so id do that and then see when it is peeled. :]

Yes you are right you cant eat bad eggs as they are off

Too damn right it is bad. I had one in the pot yesterday, and when I checked it was cracked.
