Should I try stand-up comedy?
I'm in my mid-30's, married, have two great children, and have a good day job.
Yet, all of a sudden I've had this strange urge to try stand-up comedy. I don't know where it came from. I like watching stand-up, but the thing is, I'm really kind of an introvert, and not very funny. I can make my laugh and kids laugh, but that's hardly stuff that would make a killer set.
So what do you think? Do you think the universe is trying to tell me something? Or am I just having a midlife crisis?
And if I do decide to try it, how to I make sure I don't crash and burn?

I wouldn't quit your job and start a stand up-comic career. It takes years of labor to get the point where most comics, which you see on tv, get to. I'd keep your day job but at least try it out. First find a club and sign up. Write an act and see where it takes you. Make sure to confined in a close friend if they think it's funny. Don't try it out with your wife and kids or mother. Find some one honest and see where it takes you. Then do the gig, it doesn't hurt to try something new out. Good luck.
