IN the state of nc is a notarized copy of a written separation legit?
Im trying to file for a divorce but i hear that its cheaper to get a notarized letter saying we agree to separation??? and it has to be for a year

It's better to file for divorce. A legal separation still has to be filed with the court. A notarized copy of a separation would essentially be a "contract" between you and your ex. If your ex ran up a whole bunch of joint debt, you could use that agreement to sue your ex . . . but your credit would still be ruined.
If money is a problem you can ask the court to waive the filing fee, but if your marriage is truly over . . . then you should just go ahead and file for the divorce.

A separation agreement is in no way a divorce. If a divorce is what you want, then that's what you need to do. If you remain separated, you are both still legally responsible to support the other. The easiest way to do things is to simply get an agreed petition and file it with the court for a divorce.

notarization only confirms the person's signature was witnessed by the notary.
nothing in the signed paper has anything to do with the notary.
