If you want to copyright something it protects your rights to your work, and prevents others from selling your effort.

It is so that a person can legally defend their work. If you were allowed to take someone's writing and then publish it, then writers wouldn't make any money at all.

because if you have a good product that you made and then some bigger company with more money makes the same thing but distributes it better because they have the money to do it then you get nothing for your hard work.

Because, people want to make money and be credited for their hard work. How would you like it if you worked hard on something and then someone copied your hard work and claimed its theirs?

To protect someone's original work. It prevents someone from taking it and calling it theirs.
