Is anyone else confused about the first episode of Lost TV show?

I was kind of thinking it was a kind of like a parallel universe. Juliet tells Miles that "It worked" and it keeps flashing over to where the characters all survive so maybe they are on the island as well as off the island. Haha i know it's confusing. and i call the other others the "other others". My sister and i just had a conversation about what we should call them. I personally thought Locke was taken over by that black shirted guy who was sitting next to jacob on the beach in the hour recap. I think maybe Jacob came back as Sayid though, like he came back in Sayid's body.

jacob didn't take over his body. the other guy on the beach in the flashback to jacob said he wanted to kill jacob but needed to find a loop hole. He is a shape shifter of some sort. He is in Locke's body and he is also the black smoke monster. And your sister is right. the flight scenes where Oceanic 815 actually lands is an alternate reality. I'm not sure why their showing it or what it has to do with anything, but it seems that it is not the past, present, or future. Unless it is the past and the flight landed but they somehow still get on the island, but that seems unlikely.

Flash-Sideways = parallel universe (thats what the X stood for in LA X)

Jack (present day on the island ) + Jack X (parallel universe where plane didnt crash)

Everything you see that takes place on the plane and LA is an alternate timeline where the island got destroy by a nuke while our heroes were teleported to the present in the original timeline. Basically this show became Zelda because of the whole spilt timeline thing.

Jacob's enemy who we seen in the beginning of the last year's season finale is the smoke monster. He has taken the form of John Locke. The real John Locke is dead from Ben choking him to death and is resting in his coffin.

I think Locke is now the embodiment of the Island itself - if he wasn't than how did he become the 'smoke monster''? There are now 2 alternate realities going on simultaneously - the bomb "worked" - and their lives went back to how they were before the plane crash.

Jack saved Charlie from overdose on the plane when Charlie had already been dead in the previous reality for some time... he said "I was supposed to die."

I agree i hate how they bring in new people and kill off the old ones. I wish Juliet didn't die :( Yes there are now two timelines and they are showing what happened if the plane didnt crash.
