I have never been an opening batsmen and I was wondering if anyone had any tips to stay in?

My team has been a bit dodgy in the opening department so I have been promoted so I was wondering if there was any way I could improve my game to face the faster bowlers.

most problems I see on the field for openers are related to nerves, you need to ease into it... block a few to get your eye in and get comfortable with the pitch, bowlers and conditions.

    1. Give respect to bowlers in initial overs if ball is swinging or seaming. Then attack.

    2. If your are not Sehwag or Gyle then try to learn leaving a ball out side of off stumps.

    3. Play as close as possible to your body.

Use your feet and watch the ball carefully...though that could be said for any spot in the team, but still good words to live by when opening the batting, as I do.

The best tip anyone could give you to stay in is: DON'T GO OUT!!!!!

whatever you do don't let the ball hit you or the wooden sticks behind you!!!!

use some kind of bat if it helps!!
