A Question for My Chem Fans!?

hmmmm... it feels like forever ago.

It was January 16th... two thousand-and something... (I can't remember right now...) and it was probably like 10 in the evening or something... and I was randomly searching music on itunes. I remembered hearing about the band and so I checked them out.

It was one of the most powerful feelings I had ever had when I saw Gerard's face for the music video Helena. I knew they were going to be special because I had never felt that way before. I first heard Helena, and I fell in love. I was a fanatic probably within a month, and ever since then I've been crazy for them. I realize it doesn't sound like an amazing story, but I found them during an extremely hard time in my life and they helped push me through. Now whenever I hear them I feel on top of the world and so empowered, like I can do anything. :D! MCR kicks a$$!

My chemical romance are my favourite band, I love them.

And I'm probably gonna get sooo many thumbs down for this, but I didn't like them since the beginning (most likely because I didn't know who they were!) There was a time when I listened to like, Rihanna and stuff. Not because I hated rock, but because RnB was just everywhere and I wanted to fit in. I didn't really like it that much. Also, I had no idea where to find any other music types!

Then I got this now 71 cd or something for my birthday, and the song "propane nightmares" by Pendulum was on it. I started listening and I LOVED it. Now I know pendulum and mcr sounds NOTHING like each other, but my love of the song propane nightmares made me search for other alternative music types, to see if I liked it. I started randomly pulling out names of bands I had heard of, none of which I had listened to, but that I knew sang alternativly. I typed my chemical romance into youtube and found the black parade. Instantly, I loved them. And since then they have become my favourite band.

Now I realise a lot of other fans probably hate me since I am not a long term fan. But ya know, in my mind it doesn't matter. It doesn't make me "less worthy of liking them" or "nopt a true fan" or whatever so I don't care!

But no, I love the band, have done for a couple of years now I think. Though the black parade was my first song, I would say that thank you for the venom, demolition lovers, the ghost of you or famous last words is my favourites. I'm glad I found them :)

At first, when the band started becoming popular and a lot of girls were obsessing over them, I judged them as being mainstream and dumb. At first I refused to listen to them because I thought that they would be terrible. But one summer day in 2006 I got bored and I decided to try some new music. At that time in my life I didn't really listen to rock music. But I decided to listen to some of their music. The first song that I heard was Helena and Demolition Lovers, and from then on I LOVED their music. I realized that you should never judge music until you actually listen to it. Now they are one of my favorite bands, and I listen to all rock genres, especially heavy metal and emo. I will always be a fan of My Chemical Romance, even if they break up as a band.

I was first introduced to MCR by my dad in 2006 when I was 18, we were in a van and Welcome to the Black Parade came on the radio, he had heard it before on the radio when he drove to work and when it came on I was talking when he said 'shush, hey this is a good song, you will like this' , and yes I did like it, I initially thought that they were trying to sound like Queen but even still I liked the song, then a few days later my mum told me to come and watch some music show on tv because MCR were performing live on it! I thought it was an amazing performance and my interest in them grew from there. It's quite strange how my parents knew of them before me though lol, my whole family are fans even my boyfriend who I've been with for 3 years now who I met on the internet after seeing that he was also a massive MCR fan lol!

Back in 04

I saw the video for I'm Not Okay(I Promise) & thought to myself "wow these guys are good" so checked out other songs by them online. But the first album I actually got was The Black Parade cause being me & not being able to save and/or being poor I couldn't afford anything so...yeah

So now it's been 6 years since I liked them & I still love them. I do listen to a lot of bands though so a lot of bands I love are basically my favourites.

Well I saw the video to Heleana and i just thought WOW that is so Beautiful, and i looked them up and I loved them! MCR is my life and always will be. They amaze me in every way and the inspire me every day to carry on. My Chemical Romance did really save my life++

The first song I actually heard was Demolition Lovers. A friend of mine played it to me back in late 2001 (I think it was November-ish) and I actually quite liked it. I listened to the rest of the album (and bought it) and got into them. Then when they released Three Cheers I listened to a few more songs from that album and bought it. When Life On The Murder Scene came out I just bought it to watch the DVD. By that time I really liked My Chem so I absolutely loved the CD/DVD. Then it's just gone from there. I now own loads of merch, and all of their back catalogue. I've loved them since pretty much the start (ok, a few months late) so I find the message on the back of one of the shirts really applies to me "From Bullets to Black we survived them all" :D

Anyway, I think that's enough from me since you already have loads of answers for this. Mine probably won't be any different from the others.

I started liking My Chemical Romance about six years ago, when I saw the music video for Helena on TV.

I got all my friends into them too.

I started liking My Chem when I heard Gerard was an addict to Xanax, because I struggled with Xanax for years, and alcohol. And to see that He got through it and off of them was inspiring. It might be cheesy but its true

Uh The first song.... Helena!! I saw it on VH1 music video one day! and looked them up! thats how I found all that $hit about them :)

i was listening to the edge the local metal rock station and teenagers came on and ive loved that song ever since but what was more amazing is they covered the misfits - astro zombies now im in love with that too it was great times a few years back i still listen just not as much as im being sucked into the nu metal and thrash it has alot more energy personally tho i will listen to everything i have according to the tours and whats coming near me
