Yes, insects are animals. Insecta is a class within the kingdom Animalia. Anything in this kingdom is an animal (hence the name). If something is alive and composed of more than one cell, it is either an animal, a plant, or a fungus - those are the only options. So unless you consider insects to be flowers or mushrooms, they must be animals.

Anyone that says insects are not animals obviously needs to go back to biology class. By the way not all living things are animals. Living things also includes monerans, protists, fungi, and plants.
Insects are multicellular so they are not monerans or protist,
Insects cannot make their own food, they are not plants.
Insects don't have cell walls which both plants and fungi have. Insects are neither of these.
That just leaves animals. Why would insects not be considered animals? If insects aren't considered animals than that means, crabs, spiders, centipedes, sponges, jellyfish or any invertebrates aren't considered animals either. Sorry too disappoint but all of these creatures ARE animals. Insects are animals period. They belong to the kingdom Animalia.
Spider boy you need to go back to biology class. Having fur does not define an animal. The lack of a backbone does not define an animal either. Yes insects are arthropods but so are crabs, lobsters, spiders, centipedes and millipedes. And all these creatures also have no backbone. In fact there are more animals without backbone then are animals with backbone. Other animals without backbone includes, sponges, earthworms, octopuses, squids, clams, corals, and jellyfishes. So insects ARE animals. It is not an opinion. It is a complete fact. Science can back this up with all the facts.

There are 5 kingdoms of living things. Animalia (animals), Plantae (plants), Protista (single-celled animals), Fungi (mushrooms, mold, yeast), and Monera (bacteria).
All living things are grouped and subdivided in the following order: Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species. Within the Animal kingdom, the phylum Chordata contains all animals with backbones. The phylum Arthropoda contains insects, spiders, and crustaceans. Arthropoda is further broken down into four main classes: Insecta (insects), Crustacea (crabs, lobsters, etc), Myriapoda (millipedes, centipedes), and Arachnida (spiders).
So the short answer is that yes, insects are animals. Maybe you were thinking that insects aren't "mammals". They're definitely not mammals, since they don't have mammary glands to nurse their young.

I don't get where people get the idea that insects aren't animals. They belong to kingdon animalia. There's no kingdom called insecta, it's a class in animalia. Are they plants, fungi, bacteria, or protists? Cuz if not, they're animals.

Insects are animals. They aren't like Protists, Monerans, Plants, or Fungi. Insects might be multi-celled and Protists are just one celled organisms. Insects can't make their own food, like plants can. Insects are animals. Monerans are bacteria, diseases, and viruses. Insects aren't those. Fungi have cell walls in their cells. Insects don't have cell walls in their cells. This is how Insects are animals and not anything else.

Insects are animals. They are not mammals, but they are definitely animals. Other living things like single celled organisms are not animals though. Plants are not animals. Insects are animals.

Most life is in either the Plant Kingdom or Animal Kingdom. Insects have the traits of Animals, e.g. inhaling oxygen and exhaling carbon dioxide, capable of independent movement, cannot make their own food, etc.

Animals are creatures that eat other living things. Plants are creatures that make their own food. These are the biological definitions.
So insects are animals.

insects are arthropods, because they have jointed legs the are invertebrates insects are not animals am sure 1000% they are not animals because, animals have hair or fur insects don't even animals feed their young ,but insects don't feed their young they are not plants, because plants make their own food, but insects don't make their own foods they are not bacterias, because bacterias live as only one cell, but insects are multicellular they are also not animal, plants, bird ,amphibians. reptiles,or mammals because all of these are vertebrate which have a back bone, but insects don't have a backbone ,so they are not animals
