You can take a bus, train or taxi. You can even fly.

The easiest way is by train - Amtrak has several trains each day from Penn Station that go to Albany, and then on to Syracuse. Probably about 6 hours.

You can take a bus (from the Port Authority), but it's going to take longer. Buses stop more frequently, and often the stops are longer. And it may be necessary to change buses, probably in Albany. Probably less expensive than Amtrak.

You could take a taxi. That would be very expensive because you would have to pay the taxi for a round trip even if you are only going one way. And not every taxi driver would be interested.

Planes - there are several each day. Laguardia and Newark would be the best airports to look at.

You can take Trailways Transportation System from the Port Authority to Syracuse. The one way trip from the city to Syracuse will cost you about $40 each way.

Amtrak is also a good option. You can take either the Maple Leaf, the Empire Service or the Lake Shore Limited from Penn Station New York to Syracuse. The one way fare ranges from $54 to $76.

    Good luck

Amtrak goes to Syracuse. I'd guess Greyhound does, too. Check their websites.
