    Watashi wa Yamada desu.

I am Yamada [my name is Yamada]

Boku is usually said by men. (talk between close friends)

Girls that say "boku" tend to be tomboys. Girls that are not tomboys hardly say "boku".

Watashi is the standard way of saying "I"/"Me"/"My"/"Mine". "Watashi" is one of the least formal ways.

    Watashi wa

私は watashi wa (which is just I because wa is only a particle that establishes the subject of a sentence [what you are talking about because for the grammatical subject there's another particle: ga が] and the verb to be is for every person: desu (です)。

I guess it depends on what you want to say. Just a generic "I am" maybe can be translated as 私は watashi wa. :)
