If you really can't get it to stick take your car along to one of those wind screen repair gazebo you see setting up in super market car parks and ask them to do it. They have the resin and glue that will stick to glass and should do it for you for small token.

You have to make sure that the inside glass is absolutely spotlessly clean and dry. It's no good doing it if the screen is slightly damp either so after a run is a good idea when the screen is not cold. Then warm the area slightly with a hair drier, warm NOT HOT or you will break the screen! Then if you are sure there is no condensation in the area, stick the mirror on using the proper glue, not sticky pads! This job is a lot easier in the summer months when the screen is warm and dry!

You probably got an old tube of the lock tite. Make sure the area your gluing to is totally clean use the cloth included in the kit it preps the surface you should only have to hold the mirror there for 1 minute and be sure not to touch the parts that your gluing the stuff does work Ive used it on many of my cars I like to pull off the mirrors when im throwing fits. If its too cold it won't work right so read the instructions carefully and try it again.

Hi Wendy.
These are good answers.
One thing that I'd like to add.
When you glue the mirror to the windshield, make sure that you only glue the small metal bit to the windshield, and not the whole mirror. The weight of the whole mirror will cause the thing to break off from the windshield. But if you just glue this small metal piece, and wait long enough for the glue to dry. It should work out for you alot better.
You can separate this hangar (or bracket) from the mirror with an "allen wrench".
Then after awhile, you can reattach the mirror to the bracket with your Allen wrench.
I've had this happen to a couple of friends of mine ans this usually works.

Make sure, in this weather, that the car engine has been run up to temperature, and that the interior is warm. Use the special glue they sell in garages for this task, and then DON'T drive the car for 24 hours, or it will jiggle loose.

If you are talking about the rear view mirror, there is a special Rear View Mirror Glue stuff you can get at most auto stores that works. That's the only thing I would ever use to put up a rear view.

Clean means not just clean but spotlessly clean, including being free of any traces of glass cleaner/polish. Try meths.

You have to make sure both surfaces are very clean. That stuff works just fine if you clean the contact points very well.

clean window better
clean back of mirror better
