    Often called NOUNS

Nouns can appear in several roles in sentences, as you've listed.

Strictly speaking, pronouns are also nominals, and in English they vary by funtion:

    subject:

    **I am** responding

    object:

Can you help **me** with this question?

    Write to **me** please

    possessive:

Someone borrowed **my** iPhone, and I am devastated.

Perhaps if you tried to improve your attitude ('stuck in Syntax' doesn't sound like you are willing to take it as a challenge) you would begin see the point and purpose for studying these nominals.

    Perhaps.

    Perhaps not???
