have requested broker close my deceased mother's account, being put off claiming can't find paperwork.?

I have requested acount closure for over a week. My paperwork is in order and all they tell me is they can't find the original paperwork on the account to see who the beneficiary was and i have to wait till they find it to do anything. I don't think it should take this long. Do I have any legal options?

Update:

I cannot find original paperwork, have been through all documents in her home.

Correct -- you find the original paperwork and forward it to them.

Big picture -- 30 days is reasonable. 91 days+ is not reasonable. The rules for financial disclosure are exhausting and tricky. If they screw it up, they will be liable and you will have a mess. It usually helps to do everything in person and to contact them once a week on the same day at the same time until the situation is resolved to your satisfaction.

Yes dig out your mother's original contract from when she opened the account and forward them a copy.
