does anyone know how to completely remove bones from herrings?
I'm an old fogey who likes herrings but can't cope with bones, please help, thank you.

Cut the fish lengthwise through to the back bone.
Open up and lay on the cutting board. Press down with the heel of your hand on the back of the fish all the way along to the tail.
Turn over and gently pull the backbone away.
Run your fingers along the fish and you will feel any bones left behind.
Any you miss can be eaten they are too small to harm you.

There is no way to remove all the bones, unles of course you are prepared to shred the flesh and go hunting for all the bones.
I just eat the bones by the way, they are harmless.
