When making cupcakes from scratch, which part(s) make the cupcakes moist and not dry?

Ive tried using water, milk, 1/2 and 1/2, and heavy whip(just experimenting) and it never seems like my cupcakes are moist. So im assuming the liquid has nothing to do with making them moist lol So im curious, which part DOES make the cupcakes moist?

I always thought that adding eggs to a mixture helps it bind together better while baking. The egg whites actually help with making the finished product look fluffy and moist.

I'm no cook, so i could be wrong :P

If your cake is dry you may be baking them to long

You might want to try a mayo cake they are very moist.

    Miracle Whip Cupcakes

Makes 18 cupcake or 1 bundt cake

1 cup Miracle Whip Dressing (You CANNOT substitute something else for this, it just doesn't work!)

    1 cup sugar

    2 tsp baking soda

    2 cups flour

    3 tbsp cocoa

    1 cup water

    1 tsp vanilla

    Preheat oven to 350F.

In a large bowl, mix together the Miracle Whip and the sugar. Add in the remaining ingredients and stir until well mixed and smooth. A few lumps are okay.

Spray a muffin pan and line with muffin papers. Fill 3/4 full. Bake for approximately 20 minutes, but check them at 15. It may take less time, depending on your oven.

Allow to cool. Frost if you'd like, but really, they are good plain

    CHOCOLATE MAYONNAISE CUPCAKES

    2 c. flour

    1 c. sugar

    1 1/2 tsp. baking soda

    1 c. real mayonnaise

    1 c. water

3 tbsp. liquid chocolate or Nestle Quick

Mix all ingredients together and put in cupcake pans. Heat oven to 325 degrees. Bake for about 20 to 25 minutes until toothpick comes out clean. Makes 2 dozen.

An oil such as canola oil or butter is what makes them moist.

    Don't add as much flour.

    Don't overbake.

Also adding yogurt or sour cream to batter will make it moist.
