calling all furries!!!?

i don't know what category to put this in lol. so i was just wondering, what makes someone want to be a furry? is it a belief system, or is it just that they feel like they have a connection to animals? or is it that they believe that they were meant to be an animal? or is it just for fun? idk, i'm kinda experimenting with the idea, and i was just wondering also what it's like?

Multiple reasons. Sometimes its just a love of anthro brought on by childhood memories of cartoons like Tom and Jerry, or games like Sonic the Hedgehog and Sly. In this case it is smiler to any other fandom out there, like the star-trek fandom (People dressing up as Klingons) or even football lovers. (Mohawk sprayed with team colors, body painted similarly... Have you seen these people rofl?)

Sometimes its deeper. Furries like me are classified as Lifestylers. We try to emulate some of the behavior of our chosen fursona. The definition of anthropomorphism is an animal with human traits. We, by contrast, are sort of humans with animal traits. I don't know wither this behavior is natural or not... I always felt as though it was. For example, whenever I am feeling stressed or nervous, i will lick my hand. Its a response smiler to biting your fingernails. I have always been this way, I never rly felt like "Hey! Why not chose to act like an animal today?"

This behavior can also be brought on by religious inclination. Many Native American religions involve a human allying their spirit with an animal spirit. Some furries believe in previous lives, and think they were re-incarnated from their chosen animal, therefore developing a close connection with the animal. I personally do not believe in any of this, but I respect those who do.

This is just a small percentage of the fandom, however.

As to what it's like, Furs are (generaly) very friendly and welcoming to anyone and everyone. Coming together to celebrate art and the love of anthro is a very positive experience, no matter where you fit in to the positions above. I would encourage you to join a furry-oriented website (I recomend Furry 4 Life, a ning network for furries) just to try it out. If you enjoy the company of other furs and find yourself having fun, then I welcome you as a brother (or sister) and fellow fur. If you don't, then that's fine too.

    Good Luck!

I'm not exactly an expert on the subject of furries, but as far as I know, its just a fetish. For some reason, a person finds animals erotic. It doesn't have to be any connection with animals: they may find bestiality disgusting.
