Stay at Home Parents: Do your children act up as soon as Dad/Mom comes home from work?

My 2 year old tries to destroy the house as soon as Daddy walks though the door. After a few minutes he settles back down(most of the time).

    LOL

My daughter bounces off the walls with joy when Daddy comes home!

I wonder if your son's destructo-mode is a testosterone-based way of showing his delight....

Daddy works from home here most days, but my son (almost 3) has always gotten fidgety and super active right around "off work" time. When I think that he has spent all day waiting to play with Daddy, and how much he loves Daddy, it makes sense that he is going to be bouncing off the walls wanting to share his day with Daddy. We had a few weeks where my husband would come straight "off work" and sit down to eat with us; our son would constantly want to have Daddy stop eating so he could wrestle.

For what it's worth, though, my son is also similarly excited to see other working male friends when they come over. It doesn't matter if it's Daddy's friend/co-worker, Boss, Artist Friend... my son is stoked to see them.

The minuet my husband walks in the door our 3 year old daughter drops anything and everything she is doing and runs straight for him and jumps on him and then he picks her up and swings her throught the air (we can see who is going to me daddy'd little princess. But my other 3 year old son and 6 year old son start running around in circles screaming and running into every thing until daddy runs over and picks them up and swings them round too. Then everyone settles down.

Yes!! My daughter stays home with dad and is usually fine all day. As soon as I come home she tends to get into some sort of meltdown. I think it's just timing as she's getting tired.

Well, my husband and I both work. But I usually get home with my son before my husband. Never fails, as soon as my husband pulls in the driveway my son starts acting horrible. *sigh* I don't get it.

mine also used to be the opposite. when they were babies and toddlers they tended to go into angel mode as soon as he came home, making it impossible for me to make any kind of credible complaint about what a difficult day i'd had.

now they're older and there's no real difference in their behavior when he comes home.

My kids are older now (6 & 8) but no, this never occurred. However, I see it as normal as most everything a toddler does is irrational, lol.
