Frank had an outstanding early career, I don't think anyone can debate that. The question is, was his career long enough to qualify for the Hall of Fame. This is just my opinion, but I would say no. Don Mattingly was an amazing first baseman who set the record for Gold Gloves. He also won an MVP and a batting title and was one of the most dominant players in the 80's. Unfortunately back injuries cut his career short and they've since kept him out of the hall. Based on that alone, I'd say Frank had several great years, but I don't think it was long enough.
Plus, I always felt the Hall of Fame should be one of those no doubt things. What I mean by that is, when you think of a player, you should instantly think Hall of Fame and if you don't, then they shouldn't be a Hall of Famer. For example: Babe Ruth - HOF, Ty Cobb - HOF, Mickey Mantle - HOF, Willie Mays - HOF, there are no doubt with those guys. When it starts to get into a grey area is where I have a hard time allowing entry. Kirby Puckett is a great example of this. Again, a great player in his day, but if you had the choice between him or another HOF outfielder, would you ever choose Puckett?

I loved Frank Thomas for the way he played the game. He was clean (he even advocated random testing), he was a great person, and boy, did he play with passion. It's a shame that injuries slowed his career down.

Total dominate as a hitter in his prime batting average and power. So sad see how he crashed "Big Hurt" was class back then before he coped his attitude and injuries and stubbornness robbed his numbers. HoF oh yeah i'd first ballot him but sure it won't happen till year 3 to 5.

The greatest White Sox player I have ever seen play and one of the only Major Sluggers during the Steroid Era who wanted testing in baseball while he was playing.

I agree on the HOF numbers. Can you imagine if he decides to follow Hershel Walker and go into the UFC?
