Hi, I just got a new dog ,half Chiwawa and half terrier 11 pounds, 2 yrs old.?

My question is how much do I feed it? I have always had large dogs and now I am very confused, I don't want him over weight and I would also appreciate any input on the kind of food I should feed him. I used to get the Purina and some canned Cesar too. They were big dogs but now I don't know what or how much to feed. Please help??

I am now feeding him Kibbles and Bits??

I also want to give him dry and wet so could someone come up with a solution for me?

Thanks in advance.

I would say worry less about what you feed him and more about how much you feed him. Also, as long as your dog is burning the same amount of calories it is consuming it will be healthy. Walking all dogs is a MUST.

    1) Pick a better food. Kibbles n bits is nothing but pure garbage!

    2) Look for a food without corn, wheat, soy, or byproducts.

    3) Do NOT go by the guidelines on the bag! Pet food companies want to sell food. If you feed by the guidelines, your dog will be fat.

    4) 1/4 cup twice a day of a high quality food should be plenty for your new dog.

well, first of all I'd find better food.

But, read the feeding guidelines on the package of dog food.. each brand is formulated differently and amounts will vary. If he is an active dog, he may need slightly more than the suggested amount.. if he's a lazy couch potatoe, then slightly less.

Monitor his weight.. if he seems to be gaining weight, then you know its abit too much, feed a little less.. if he seems to be loosing, then feed a little more.
