Do Canadians know Vancouver, BC is #1 most livable city?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northame...

And not only this, Toronto is also in the top 5. There are no US cities up there.

Top cities are Vancouver, Canada; Melbourne, Australia; Auckland, New Zealand; Vienna, Austria; Zurich, Switzerland; Toronto, Canada; Sydney, Australia....all these sort of coastal cities mainly and the Bavarian places....

Canada is very livable, despite the "socialist rhetoric" we hear in the states about Canadians dying from their healthcare system

This is nice. I guess. I love to visit Vancouver but it is not the most livable for me - it plays havoc with my arthritis. But so does Toronto and Montreal etc etc. Makes you wonder what the people who makes these choices use for criteria. It is also a wee little bit too expensive for me but it is, no doubt about it, a fantastic city.

About the "socialist rhetoric" we hear in the states - Republican rhetoric (fodder for the "we love to hate the USA" types)

    or

The grist of many Canadian comediennes

Oh Yeah. Let's not forget it is the site of this year's Winter Olympics - GO, CANADA, GO!!!!!!

What makes a city truly livable is a good transit system that connects all parts of the city by metro. I lived in Mumbai, India for many years. It had an excellent metro system that ran 24/7. It linked all the parts of this large city and with a monthly pass, I could travel anywhere within the city and its suburbs at a very low cost. There were slow trains, and express trains, and in fact from the downtown Churchgate station there was a train every two or three minutes. I had a car, but it was hardly used. We need this kind of connectivity in Canadian cities. Toronto comes close, but its not quite there - all parts of the city and suburbs are not well connected. Montreal has a good system, but the many of the suburbs are not connected. I wish Ottawa had a good metro system.

Our health care takes a beating in the states because groups are trying to keep social health care away from the people in the states because it will cut into the profits of the insurers and the doctors. Our health care system is very amazing I have lived in both Alberta and Nova Scotia and have a bowel disease. I have never had a hard time getting treatment or appointments. Yes for non emergency cases there can be a lengthy waiting period but no one in need is denied. I think our health care system is grossly misunderstood and like most media only the most sensational cases are high lighted and the reality often overlooked.

Yes we are fully aware that Vancouver, BC was voted #1 most liveable city by a British magazine company.

Are Vancouverites aware of how insecure they look by repeating it all the time?

People with true confidence and poise don't need to brag to make themselves feel good. With a "Best place on Earth" license plate, perhaps Vancouverites don't know what true confidence is all about. If they did, they would have NO need to prove themselves to others.

Yes, I do and as a born and raised Torontonian- I ABSOLUTELY agree!! Vancouver is just stunning, creative, friendly, outdoorsy and very walkable. Plus, the air you breath there is soo clean (not smoggy like here in Toronto).

Not surprisingly, I have dreams of moving and living there one day.
