How many labor hours to replace a oil cooler on a V6?
I have a Saab 9-5 3.0L V6.
My oil cooler is leaking, and I think pretty bad. Any idea how many hours a mechanic would charge to reach down in there and replace it? My mechanic chargers $70/hr..

There's a link to the instructions for replacing it. I may end up doing it myself if it's going to cost too much..
Anyway, thanks in advanced for any advice.

Not to belittle the people from Sweden (I'm married to one) who designed this monster but why on God's green earth would anyone put an oil cooler in such a snotty tough hot place? I'm totally embarrassed to think General Motors has something to do with this!
I have no idea what the cooler looks like or how efficient it is but I'd consider plugging it off and running cooling lines off the base or the oil filter housing to a more efficient external oil cooler.
What's the capacity of the oil pan? I'd also try this task myself if I were you. You're going to spend some money on tools.

Why did you have to own a Saab. For sure it is going to cost a bunch if you let a Saab mechanic do the job. But if you are mechanically inclined. Go over the procedure thoroughly and replace the cooler yourself. The oil cooler in itself may be very expensive. Anyway the old one can be repaired?
