how exactly do you get from NYC to Niagara Falls the Canadian side?

for my 15 birthday i want to see Niagara falls. We will probably go driving. im confused on the directions on how to get there. is it better to drive up to Boston or syracuse? Are we suppose to take the 190 interstate? and what bridges do we need to go through to get to the Canadian side? Or would it be better to take a plane? we will be there for about 5 to 7 days.

interstate 190 all the way to Niagara falls.NY ,From there take the closest bridge which enter directly to Canadian side that is"Rainbow bridge"or take "whirlpool bridge"

Peace bridge will enter from Fort erie which is further south(You have to drive 30-45min back for niagara falls,ON).

Drive up to Syracuse and take I-90 from Syracuse to Buffalo. From Buffalo, you can either take the Peace Bridge from Buffalo to Canada, or if you keep driving towards Niagara Falls you can take the Rainbow Bridge from Niagara Falls USA to Niagara Falls Canada (which is where you want to go). Rainbow bridge is probably the better option. Make sure you bring enough money for tolls. Use mapquest or google maps for the specific turn by turn details.

  • Your best bet is probably to take I-80 west into PA, to I-380 north, then I-81 north to Syracuse, where you will take I-90 into Buffalo. From there take I-290 west to I-190 north, then US hwy 62 north into Niagara Falls.

Once you are in Niagara Falls, NY, follow the signs for Hwy 62 and the Rainbow Bridge into Niagara Falls, Canada.

The trip is about 410 miles, and should take about 6 and a half hours.

  • The maximum time one should spend in Niagara Falls is 1 day.

There just isn't enough to see, the city has less than 100,000 people.

In one day you can fit in: The Falls, Clifton Hill, a few shopping malls....

Since you are only 1.5 hrs away from Toronto, the most multi-cultural city in the world...I'd stop by there.

Toronto has so much more to offer, Museums, better shopping, better culture, more fun.

7 days is outrageously long for the Falls. spend max. 2 day days in the Falls, and 5 in Toronto.

Try hotwire.com for good hotel deals, and tripadvisor.com for good hotel reviews.

    Hope it helps!

also Megabus.com does a a Toronto-Niagara Falls CA- Falls USA- Buffalo- NYC bus route, for as low as 20 bucks each way from Toronto to NYC.
