I'm going to my first concert soon and I have a few questions...?

I'm 15 and I'm going to see Rammstein.

I want to get first row, how much earlier should I get there?

What should I wear(the concert is in March and it's an indoor venue. Should I wear short sleeve t-shirt or not? and also, band t-shirt or not(i don't have a Rammstein t-shirt)?)

Should I know the songs of the opening act? I don't really like them, and I have no idea which songs will they play. And also, how long are they going to play?

Should I bring my cell phone with me? I'm afraid it might get stolen...

How long will the concert last?

What should I expect in general? How do I act in mosh pits(or is it better to stay away?) Anything I'm forgetting?

I know some of my questions may sound stupid, but I'm really excited :D

Your questions aren't "stupid." Ron White says you can't fix stupid. "Ignorant" means lacking knowledge, and that CAN be fixed.

    1. If it's general admission you might want to try as early as an hour before the doors open, maybe earlier. If it's reserved seating you need a ticket to get the front row.

    2. Wear what's comfortable for you. Remember that 99.999% of the people in the audience cannot see you or what you're wearing, and they won't care either because they're watching the band. I personally don't like making fashion statements (I had a person at a Police/Flock of Seagulls concert in the early 80s compliment me for not having spiked green hair like a lot of the other concert-goers, but again, that's just me). If you want to wear a band t-shirt, you might buy one then change into it at the show. Personally, I've worn an REM shirt to a Steve Earle concert and a Grand Ole Opry t-shirt to a Replacements concert.

    3. Don't worry about the opening act. If you're going to be in the front row, I would suggest that you do at least act like you're listening to them. Opening acts have a tough time of it, so do give 'em a break. And, no, you don't need to know their songs. Most opening acts know that 99.999% of the people are NOT there to see them. Do pay attention, they just might surprise you. I discovered a couple of very good bands by seeing them as opening acts.

    4. Unless you have one of those "dinosaur" cell phones in the Free Credit Report.com commercial (LOL) if you want to carry your cell phone just TURN IT OFF PLEASE and put it in your pocket.

    5. There's no telling how long a concert will last. Some venues have a strict cut-off time because of local noise rules and/or union regulations that mandate the stage has to be "torn down" by midnight or whatever. One of the joys of a live show is that the band feeds off the audience and vice versa. I've seen a band two nights in a row -- one night was boring and dull with no encores, and the next night was exhilarating and thrilling with three encores.

    6. I would STRONGLY recommend that you go to a drug store and get a pair of earplugs. (I've actually had bands compliment me on wearing them -- of course, my earplugs were Navy issue and as such were lime green and really stood out! LOL) It's going to be LOUD. The earplugs will not infringe on your ability to hear what's happening, but they might dang well ensure that you can still hear the band in ten years! As for a mosh pit, I'm too old for them so I can't tell you. The only time I ever saw a mosh pit was when I saw the Dead Milkmen -- and I was easily the oldest person there (except for the band) by a GOOD ten years.

First of all your freaking lucky to be seeing Rammstein. If you want to be in the first row get in line as early as possible. Indoor venue i always wear short sleave Tee or a tanktop. Don't wear a band shirt if they aren't playing, thats lame. as far as the opening act goes just watch them and enjoy being there. opening bands for a big band(at the concerts I've been to) only play 30-45 minutes. If you bring anything keep it in your hands. Duration depends on how many songs they play. If they allow Rammstein to use their pyro then the front is going to be very hot and since its indoor there won't be much moving air. I personally don't mosh but I stay close to them because thats about all the air that your going to get.

length of concerts REALLY depend on the band. They may do fifty million encores, and they might not do any at all. Just wear something comfortable, I don't know what the temperature is like there, so don't wear too much, or too little. Don't worry about knowing their songs. I would leave the cell phone at home, unless you want to take pictures/video. You should probably stay away from moshpits. Moshpits are basically where some really excited people (or stoned people) jump around like crazy. If you decide to go in one, you might get hurt. Apart from all that, just relax and have fun. :D
