Guppies eating babies?

Most of my guppies eat their babies, I have a few momma fish that don't. I know this is common however I am sooo tired of watching them, separating the pregnant females into brooders and waiting! Do any of you have any wisdom on how I can handle this birthing issue better?

Fancy plants makes these plastic plant grids that you can use as ground cover for your tank. It's not foolproof--SOME babies will still probably get eaten, and you need to make sure that enough food is falling to the bottom to keep the babies alive. Still, you'd be surprised what a simple carpeting plant can do. Of course, java moss would be a more natural and beneficial choice, but if you can't find any, the fancy plant mats work very well.

Moving the females to breeding nets/tanks is not a good idea because all they do is cause the females to be stressed, which often leads to dead fry, no fry at all, and sometimes a dead female.

If you have a separate breeding tank of at least 10g set up, then I recommend moving the fry into it as soon as you see them in the main tank. You should be keeping the main tank heavily planted so that the fry have places to hide from the adults.

Go to pet store and ask for a guppy baby tank. Its a small plastic tank that hangs on the inside of your regular tank that keeps the babies separate from the the momma fish till they are big enough to join the group. They don't cost much.

i know how you feel, i stopped breeding them more than 7 years ago. the only thing you can do, aside from trtransferring them, is to have a well planted and or decorated tank and hope the babies learn to hide themselves and thats it....
