Which do you think is more important in the Olympics: Gold medal count, or Total medal counts?

I think for adding up totals and figuring out who won over all the medals should have points. 3 for gold, 2 for silver and 1 for bronze, add it all up and you've got a winner. I definatly think if 1 country got 1 gold and another got 5 bronzes the 5 bronzes should be the overall winner

Depends on which country you were rooting for. And why would you only be talking about this past Olympics. You aren't suggesting changing the argument based on how your country did, would you? If they were seriously keeping score, there should be a certain point value for the different medals... a gold is worth more than a bronze. To simply add up all the medals means they are all equal, when they aren't. To only worry about Gold Count simply dismisses the other medals, which isn't correct either. So take your pick, whichever you want to be more important is fine.

Nike had a commercial that was controversial with athletes...."You don't win silver, you lose gold." How many bronze medal winners do you remember? I believe the achievements to reach the podium are tremendous, but even athletes will tell you that they want that gold medal.

I know that the number of medals should be high but I think it's important to have a certain number of medals, because you do not win a few medals' gold ...............

I have a problems with being weighed in medals. Anyways the margin between winners and losers is so little that winning and taking part both should carry a value, and winning should carry more.
