How much will Lowe's pay a flooring specialist?

Im a trained flooring specialist with years of experience in both flooring and retail. I'm also almost finished with my degree. I'm thinking about applying for a flooring specialist position at Lowe's. What is the most that I can be expected to be paid?

It will depend on if they have an open position. If they don’t have an open position then they will not be very willing to work with you on salary, if you even get an interview. That’s because they are only authorized to have a certain number of specialist in a department and if they are at that then their hands are for the most part tied.

If they do have an opening, then it will depend on the area of the country you live. They have salary ranges and you would fall into a range based on a lot of factors such as experience, metro or urban area and location. Again depending on these factors the ranges will start in the $10-$12/hour range and go up from there.

Completely depends on what area you're living in. If you work where minimum wage is 8.50 like it is where I am, you're going to get more than if it's the national minimum.

Whatever you decide to do, do not disclose the salary you are hoping to get. Put "negotiable" on any application that asks you that, and if you get asked this question in an interview, state that you don't have a particular expectation and would like to negotiate salary at a later time. Then change the topic to how interested you are in the company or job satisfaction, etc. You're making it seem like you aren't as interested in how much you get paid as opposed to how happy the job will make you. And by NOT disclosing your expected salary in an early interview, you will have more wiggle room to get paid more later

Source(s): I work for the company that insures lowes and I see salary information all the time.
  • I am looking at all kinds of flooring to make decisions for my House. I found that Lowes contracts out the measuring and floor laying work. You might be better off finding out who your Lowes stores uses and apply with them instead!
