What do you think about the choice of Ken Starr as Baylor's new university president?

Apparently, Dean Kenneth Starr excelled as a fund raiser for Pepperdine's Law School and lured some noteworthy faculty members to Malibu, but the choice, given the leanings of most academics, is a controversial one. Starr served as the Whitewater Special Prosecutor during the Clinton Administration.

It sure didn't seem to hurt Pepperdine whenever they moved up 45 spots to become 55th nationally ranked when he was Dean over their law school, in just 6 years.

Greg N hit the nail right on the head with his response. He has it all just about right.

I think it's a great move for Baylor. He has a very strong background, and as Baylor's 2012 goal nears they brought in a guy who is proven in that field. He also has the same christian morals and beliefs and will do nothing but improve the school if his past is any judge.

I think Baylor University, based on what I have read they said, made a good choice. Since his position is not a political, government position, and because Baylor University tends to be more conservative anyway, I don't see how Ken Starr's history as it relates to President Clinton should make any difference.

If people want to dislike Ken Starr out of spite, and thus believe he's somehow not good for any job or wish to bar him from jobs he's otherwise perfectly qualified for, then those people need to redirect their efforts.

Lastly, just as there will never be a perfect candidate for political office, there will also never be a perfect university president. If it's not Ken Starr, it will be some other imperfect person.

I dated a girl that went to Baylor and went to the campus to se her many times. He will fit right in with a school that proudly advertised..."Baylor= Baptists and Beamers (BMW's).

Hey, its their reputation that will suffer.

If they think employing a guy who searched thru trailer courts and Hillarys underwear drawer will make a good Pres for their University so be it. Its their reputation thatll suffer.
