Anyone else think NBC is doing a lousy job?!?

Seriously, I'm going to time it tonight, but it seems more time is spent on commercials and Bob Costa's "human interest" stories than on the Olympic games themselves. I mean really - A polar bear segment last night?! Polar bears are cute and all but what do they have to do with the Olympics? Anyone else miss actually seeing SPORTS in their Olympic coverage?!

I enjoyed the polar bear segment last night.I think this was to appeal to the children and to show bits of Canada's geography.

I agree though. The coverage leaves a lot to be desired. If I want human interest I will read the newspaper or the internet.

I just hope NBC spends more time covering speedskating and hockey than men's figure skating.

Yes, I agree with you that the human interest stories are BS, but I suppose the commercials are necessary. (I don't like them, really, but) It cost a load of money to buy the rights to buy the rights to the Olympics, and without all those commercials, NBC would lose money. And I know a lot of sports may be going on at a time, but if there aren't (as in they're only one or two going on at once), it's live coverage, so NBC can't determine when they go on. In real time, you might have five-who knows how much minutes between something. Since it's live, NBC can't cut that out.

It's not much different than past Olympics. My only complaint is there's not enough coverage. It doesn't come on TV until 2:00 p.m. central time today. You can't even tell me that there's nothing going on before noon. I understand that there aren't near as many events in the Winter Olympics as in the Summer. Maybe that is why it seems slow.

I don't really think this is any different from past olympics though. I remember in Beijing that had a story about the local delicacies including fried scorpion. Then the reporter had to try one of the scorpions. They do this to try to give you the flavor of the host country.

part of the olympics is the culture of the host country, i thought the opening ceremony was great, the only thing i would change is for them to actually get their medals at the event like beijing......another thing is it just me or do the athletes seem not as excited to be there than the summer olympics just an observation

    ......well the Canadians seem excited

i think of he did a unfavourable activity. He replaced into like a marriage counselor moreso than a effectual moderator: "no seem at one yet another once you talk" It replaced into cringeworthy. I lots favorite Charles Gibson back in '04.
