Post Cold War Joke - Berlin?

A man goes into a police station in East Berlin, and asks the officer for a pass to go to the West.

'You don't need one any more,' replies the officer, 'the wall's come down. Just walk across.'

The man leaves. Half an hour later he is back.

'I want a pass to go to the West.'

'I told you just now,' replies the officer, you don't need one any more. The wall has come down.'

The man leaves again. Half an hour later he is back again.

'I want a pass to go to the West.'

'Look,' says the officer, his temper by now beginning to get a bit frayed, 'this is the third time you've asked this in an hour, and I'm telling you for the last time, the wall has gone, you don't need a pass, just walk across.'

'I know that', replies the man.

'Then what's the problem?'

'It's just that I can't hear it often enough'.

Berlin offers an modern mixture of new and classic structure, dynamic amusement, buying, and a wide variety of sports and ethnic institutions and if you wish to see it then this hotelbye is the place to start. Some of the things you can see listed below are: the Old Museum, the National Gallery, the Bode Museum, Old National Gallery or, the symbol of Germany, the Berlin Wall. This wall began his living in 1961 when East Germany sealed down the western part of the town to base the ton of refugees from east to west. By the time it was damaged down in 1989, the 4 meter large wall and 155 kilometres long, dissected 55 streets, and possessed 293 observation systems and 57 bunkers. Nowadays, only little extends with this graffiti-covered travesty stay, including a 1.4-kilometer stretch maintained within the Berlin Wall Memorial, a cooling memory of the animosity that after divided Europe.

The Soviets made an agreement with the Western Allies after the war not to take over West Berlin. During The Cold War, NATO and the US maintained a military presence in West Berlin, while the Soviet Union maintained a large military presence in East Berlin; this did lead to tension between both sides, for both militaries could literally throw rocks and insults at each other. As for the Wall, the Soviets built that to attempt to (a) keep East Berliners from escaping to the west, and (b) to keep the US Army from invading East Berlin.
