Are you old enough to have had an 8-track tape deck in your first car?

BQ: What yr/make/model car was it?

BQ2: Which 8-track tapes do you remember having in it?

Update:

We're not talking "cassettes", rookies!

Update 2:

Me: '74 Mercury Capri with Best Of Bread, Best of The Guess Who, and E Pluribus Funk

    James Gang ?

    Ten Years After Sssshhhh

    Grand Funk Railroad ?

    and who remembers?

One day I got a flat; Looked into the trunk and saw the leaf spring mounts in there.

Not personally, but about 30+ years ago I used to get a lift to work from a guy in an Orange Mini 1000, which was then about 6 years old. The only tape he seemed to have was "Neil Diamond's Greatest Hits", and I got that twice a day over a 20 mile round trip. Worse than actually working :-)

Wonder why they are no longer available, as they were SO easy to store?

not my first car, but my second. A '79 Ford Bronco. I was in high school in the late 80s and went to a local second hand store and purchased 8tracks for 10 cents each. Even if only half of them worked it was still a bargain. I ended up collecting a couple hundred of them and got good at taking them apart and fixing them; you have to because they were such a bad design. I got rid of them all several years ago. Quite an impressive collection. The ones that got the most play were Black Sabbath, Frank Zappa, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Hendrix, Guess Who, Santana.

edit: haha, yeah. I love my cassette tapes. I still have way over 100. I have a '90 Toyota with a tape deck. I don't plan on ever getting rid of those....the tapes or the 'Yota.

    1970 Ford Maverick.

Nilsson Schmilsson - I remember the song "Jump Into The Fire" ended about half way through on one track and finished on another.

Cosmo's Factory by Creedence Clearwater Revival

Green River by Creedence Clearwater Revival

Foghat - Loved their version of Maybelline

Not sure of the name of the album;but, it was by Argent (the name was probably Argent)

    Woodstock

Best of Mitch Ryder and The Detroit Wheels (my best friend and I would argue as to which was the better song- Jenny Take A Ride or Devil With A Blue Dress On as we blasted it speeding on the expressway - with no seat belts )

Rare Earth - Thought the long version of :Get Ready" was awesome, now when I listen to it I'm like it's okay)

No! But only because I didn't get a car of my own until I was 20. By then it had a cassette player.

It was a 1970 VW Bug. I ran the wheels off it :-)

I did have some 8-tracks... but I can't remember which ones.

My best friend's brother, tho, had a quadrophonic system, and I remember listening to the Doobie Brothers' "Captain and Me" on it. At one point the music is swirling around and around the room. It was fabulous. China Grove, I think. Mighta been Dark Eyed Cajun Woman, tho... *killer* percussion.

I've got the CD. I'll have to listen to it and get back.

The very first music I bought were two 8 Tracks, AC/DC Highway To Hell and Back In Black. I remember the stereo came with three tapes a Beatles Hits, Steely Dan, and one with a mixture of odd & ends. I also remember taking it apart and fixing it when it broke for my mom and she was so proud of me.
