Did I get a computer virus?

I'm horrible with computers, I recently clicked on a link and when I did this page with some messed stuff appeared and when I tried to click it off the page moved so I couldn't. I turned my computer off then back on again the page wasn't up anymore I ran a scan with that free norton antivirus thing and all it found was a tracking cookie and deleted it. First off what was that that showed up it was messed I couldn't click on it it just kept moving second is it serious, and third what should I do now?

It probably is a virus maybe from downloading something or when you went on the link the virus just spread to your computer if your computer is XP then it probably is a virus. there is alot of people virusing XP thats why people would get like macs or vista because not much hackers and stuff. You could get spyware that could kill the virus too but idk which is the best i used norton but didn't like it so i use trend micro its pretty decent and they teach you how to take the virus out

Source(s): I have an HP Desktop that got viruses before i learned how to clean them

a tracking is just a cookie...no virus, they're not malicious. Cookies are needed for websites to function correct because they store information like when you login so the website remembers you but when you click logout the cookie gets erased.

On the other hand some 3rd party tracking cookies serve no other purpose than to track you and they're for ads...
