Can Video DownloadHelper be detected by the hosting site?

I want to use the FireFox plug in Video DownloadHelper to save some educational videos. Does anyone know if the site that hosts the videos can detect that the video is being downloaded?

    Probably they could, but they probably wouldn't be bothered. If you're downloading music videos, well, thats a different story.
