How is the gas produced?
In my science experiment, we were supposed to find out whether processed food or fresh food would produce gas and our hypothesis was that the processed food would produce the gas. We wrap the test tube brims that contained the processed food and fresh food and left it alone for a day. After that we observed that there are air inside the balloons of the processed food, was wondering how was the gas produced? is it due to chemical reaction? or something else?

Gases are produced by the action of bacteria and fungi on the food.
