Connecting my laptop to a tv?

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop, which has a broken screen. I would like to connect to my tv, so can retrieve all my photo's but i can not see any of the laptop's display.

Would a HDMI cable resolve it or is it a complete replacement screen i need?

    You can use HDMI connection to your TV. You might have to press Fn+F7 or some other key to switch to external monitor. It's also possible to replace the LCD panel (a replacement panel would cost around $80-$200 but it's not exactly easy to disassemble and reassemble a laptop.
