Spouse of a military retiree benifits?
Ok my hubs is getting medically retired were just waiting on papers.
I have a stupid question that i believe i already know the answer to but I am gonna ask and hopefully get the right answer. I am assuming that when he retires I get a military retiree ID card just like I have for him being active duty. Is this right? Meaning i can use the commissary and gym on base still i mean isn't that part of retiring. He says oh i might have to go with you because i am the retiree which i don't think is right. Every retiree wife i have met has their own card and uses the commissary,PX and base gym. Is this correct? He has a federal job lined up and we can live on post so i want to use the base gym and of course the commissary.
Thanks guys that is what i thought we have been in 11 years and thought that was how it works but then again he made me think who knows maybe they changed it lol you know the military!
Thanks goodness i am right for a few reasons , it would be a pain in the a$$ to have to have him go to the store with me every time, i love going to the gym and now i can tell him i told ya so LMAO!
Thanks again.

You will get an id that you need to renew every few years. You can go to any base px or commissary by yourself.

You will get a military I.D. card with the same privileges as your spouse. Im a 100% disabled veteran living with my filipina wife in the Philippines and she has the same commissary benefits as I do (when Im on U.S. soil or a U.S. base of course).

yeap. as a retiree however your access to base medical facilities MIGHT be tougher/harder. just depends on the base and whether or not htye have room for retirees and their dependnets.
are you sure about being allowed to live on base? once he is out of the military he is no longer authorized on base housing.. not unless that specifc PPV company has some sort of deal about renting to civilians.

Like Freaky, i've got by no skill heard of this. the army provided each and all the tickets for my husband while he got here dwelling house on depart, dwelling house being 1500 miles from the place he become stationed. in case you're finding for a value tag for your self to fulfill up with him, you could call the airline and want, despite the fact that it is not going. Marine5 is particularly mind-blowing. the army gala's could be impressive for some departures/places while in others they are able to be bigger than the gala's they are promoting to absolutely everyone (we found that out this final Christmas).

yes, you get an ID card, this is also your insurance card (tricare). Make sure you get it. He does have to go with you to get the initial ID card. Then you can go anywhere you want to on base.
