Why do fundamentalist Christians attack evolutionary biology...?

To be honest, I have *never* seen a fundamentalist christian attack evolutionary biology.

I've seen lots of them make up their own version of evolutionary biology, which they then attack...but none of them ever attack *actual* evolutionary biology. Just the straw-men versions of it that they invent in order to "win."

Oh, and they do the same with astrophysics and other sciences, trust me. I had a fundie hand me a DVD one day (she knew I was a hardcore astronomer) that "explained" how the universe was only 6,000 years old. There wasn't a single piece of actual astronomy or astrophysics in it that they attacked, only stuff they made up and called astronomy or astrophysics. And the best part: the people who made the DVD had illegally taken and used one of *MY* astrophotos on their DVD...they got a cease and desist order the next day, and were forced to publicly admit that they had illegally used copyrighted material. :)

You are a studied person and so you will understand that we are all in different stages of development and research and that it takes time. Contrary to popular belief, We did not get a packet of *INSTANT HOLY* and a bottle of * INSTANT GOD`S KNOWLEDGE* the second we decided to follow God. However the Bible tells us to SEEK wisdom.. So most Christians come to the point they start investigating.. And I can only speak for me I am still researching. BUT the deeper I study, the more I find resources both secular and scientifically that supports the bible, as historical and archaeologically accurate, and thus the rest should pretty well be accurate with the knowledge that Nothing IS perfect and the Lord doesn`t require perfection and that He does KNOW where you / I stand in your / my journey, and He is the teacher and you are right where you are supposed to be, doing exactly what you are suppose to be doing, in the exact area of studies and life, that you are supposed to be at... And then I go to the Theory of Evolution as a start on that side and all I find are 1- Evolution is a theory. Thus : THE THEORY OF EVOLUTION. Here is the definition of Theory .. 1 - Abstract thought : speculation. 2 - A hypothesis assumed for the sake of argument or investigation. 3 - An unproved assumption : conjecture. ASSUMPTION - the act of laying claim to or taking possession of something. CONJECTURE= a conjecture is a mathematical statement which appears resourceful, but has not been formally proven to be true. These are NOT facts.. Thus there is nothing really to believe.. not a speculation, not an ASSUMED hypothesis, and certainly not an UNPROVED assumption.. We love scientist. The world is a better place because of their efforts. I am kinda amazed that you think you KNOW how we feel and think. Their work certainly helps to provide evidence for our Bible.. Only a very small percentage of Christians are science-deniers. We do not deny evolution, All things evolve. We deny Evolving into a whole new species, from another species.. The differences between the simian and human is significant. There has yet to be, a find of ANY creature, in a half one species and half the other species condition. You are a chicken or you are robin. You are a dolphin or you are a whale. They don`t interchange species. So For me, Evolutionary theory has huge holes that are not addressed, such as a biogenesis. Scientists cannot produce in a lab under controlled conditions that which they postulate happened on its own, by accident. and tell us is factual. I feel like they are lying to me up front that they have proven this when in fact they haven`t. It stops there. I don`t follow anything that lies to me.. It is a waste of time UNTIL, they actually do prove SOMETHING, I will go with the scientific proof that has been presented and is still being presented to this day. And IF (big IF) they can prove this is the way it happened,Frankly it still doesn`t prove that God wasn`t pushing the buttons to cause all the evolutionary events stuff to occur. No where does the bible tell us how old earth is. No where does it say HOW it was created. No where does it say it took millions of years or 24 hours. Or in other words. It still doesn`t prove that my Lord does NOT exist.. And thus it is moot to me.. Peace and blessings from Texas <>< We are not done yet.

Because it threatens at the roots what we believe, and we believe that there are other explanations for the beginning of life, and not only do we believe it, but we have evidence for it too.

And why do you tout Fundamentalism as something bad? Right at the root of the word: Fundamentals.

Fundamentalism is just trying to make a better foundation for people to live on. You ever built houses? If the house has a crumbling foundation, it's no good. That's exactly what we see evolution as. A crumbling foundation.

It is not biology or any science that Christians attack- its the lie they stand against.

Can you give any evidence to support evolution?

i being a christian, lived my life peacefully until many atheists, evolutionists( ect. ) started being like " oh your wrong, we are right, stop believeing in fairy tales", i really dont care what you believe, as long as you dont try to convert me and tell me im wrong, because i can see the stand-point of all religions, and thats why i DON'T try to convert to what i believe, there are more important things to do that fight our fellow humans over who is right, just be happy your alive and you have a brain!!!

Because evolution is inconsistent with the Bible. And its also inconsistent with science apart from the Bible.

Because evolutionary biology shows just how wrong and headstrong they actually are.

They fail to understand the difference between a theory and a hypothesis.

If you can call God a hypothesis, I, myself, find it a little to inadequate to hold that status.
