What is the best tool to cut a rug pad with?
I used kitchen shears that are pretty good but I think I ruined them.
The pad is thick and I need to cut it to size for a few area rugs.
(me and my bright ideas!! my hand is killing me!)

An Exacto knife has a thin weak blade and a pretty whimpy handle! Using it to cut the padding would wear out your hand again. Use a box cutter or utility knife with a stout handle. Hold a straight edge along your cutting line. I use a 2x4 stud. Put your weight on the wooden straight edge to mash down the material and to keep it from grabbing the blade and tearing while you cut. When I cut material like that, I actually stand on the 2x4 to hold it in place. Of course do it outside so that you don't go through and cut your floor.

Get an exacto knife. That would be the best tool. Its the same thing as a box-cutter.
