I need a research topic about death in German culture?

I remember back in school once doing a project on how death is dealt with in different cultures - stuff like how they treat a dead body, wakes, funerals, memorials, all that. It was really interesting how differently some things are done just comparing a couple of neighbouring European countries and just three generations. Holocaust and its aftermath are always an option when it comes to Germany, but if you don't want to have to deal with all the thorny history and politics, perhaps something like this might be suitable for you. You could compare what they do in Germany with how they do things in your culture (or some other culture you might be interested in), maybe at several points in time, or pose the question whether different regions or different social groups in Germany have or have had different traditions associated with death, conduct interviews/polls online for some fresh data, etc.
