I say both as Jesus said: Deception will run amok in the *Last Days*
But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.” 2 Timothy 3:13.
Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them;” Deuteronomy 11:16. Here in the fifth book of the Torah, Moses is addressing the nation of Israel, but in the New Testament we read the same warning over and over again. God knew the Hebrews would be drawn away from Him through the deceitfulness of evil men. 

There’s no difference today. Many will be led astray by deceit, which is what we see emerging in this “New Christianity”. 
This “New Christianity” threatens the Church today just as Gnostic teachings threatened the first century church. This is what the Apostle John warned believers about in his epistles, “

Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.” 2 John 1:9. Both of these erroneous teachings are focused on removing the true doctrine of Christ from Christianity.  

As we will soon see they are not alone. The roots of all deceptive teachings were firmly established way back in the Garden of Eden where Satan first put doubt in the mind of Eve. Satan’s lying words convinced Eve, who in turn convinced Adam, to reject God’s truth and accept the lie. Satan still calls God and the Bible into question and ensnares those who are either naïve and scripturally uninformed or who are seeking some personal revelation to make them feel special, unique, and superior to others. 

The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the LORD.” Proverbs 19:3

Revelation 20:10. He will scheme and lie and introduce all forms of “New Christianity” (ideas that are actually the antithesis of true Christianity) into the world to take as many foolish, gullible people with him to their destruction.

As you mentioned the tree of knowledge. Was it the wrong knowledge, was that why He didn't want us to know it. Not good and holy things, but.....Yeah the new teachers that say we can do anything we want and Jesus will forgive us...I think He has the grace to forgive our PAST sins..modern teachings kind of dance around that one

Both. People are not stupid, if a horned bloke with a tail and red eyes and a pitchfork walked up to you and asked you to give him your soul, it wouldn't take much to work out who he was. The deceiver will pose as truth and as such must underly lies. So an understanding of people is essential to deceiving them. Being in a position of power is essential to deceiving people on a grand scale. How many of us question everything? How many of us accept what we are taught in schools because the 'authorities' who designed the courses must know what they are talking about?
How many of us wish for a life of peace without struggling to survive, to have a happy home and plenty? And how many of us willingly accept that we have to be victims of the rules laid down to us almost subconsciously? We go to school to get taught, we don't question where our teachers got the knowledge they are teaching, we get qualified and we find work and we don't question as to why we should pay our taxes or even how our tax money is being distributed. We struggle hard to pay rent or buy houses but don't question who had the authority to deny us of somewhere to live in the first place. Some of us don't get work, so we collect benefits and become even bigger victims of the system. Then we find our minds can't cope with all the pressure or all the inhibbited desire just to be free, and again we put our trust in the system, the psychologists, the psychiatrists, you know those ones who know how to control the mind. Those people who train our teachers and our police and our doctors and our government ministers. Those same people who know that if they do this, a person will do that. Those people who study effects rather than causes, or should i say those who are the causes of the distress then pose as the 'cure' for distress. 
What is the devil, what is satan? The deceiver. what is occult? That which is hidden.
How many of us fully believe that governments tell us the truth? How many risk being named as conspiracy theorists just for wanting to see behind the lies? That system which teaches God did not create us is the same system that 'cures' our minds by druggin them. The same system which creates the lie then builds up fundamental 'truths' which support the lie.
And have you seen the differences in Bibles over the years? How each new translation tends to fill in the gaps by altering context to be understandable in a modern world, yet the original was never supposed to be understood as is, but was designed to make us think.
Churches decieve, governments deceive, each new biblical translation deceives. And only those who don't have the answers demanded of them by the deceived or deceivers but put their faith in jesus know the truth. 


Revelation 20.10
And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

The author of all deception. He began in the garden of eden with adam and eve and has not stopped. 
(Revelation 12:9  And the great dragon was cast out, the old serpent called Devil, and Satan, who deceives the whole world. He was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.) Did you see that ? God's inspired word says that satan deceives the whole world. It says it again here. (Revelation 20:7  And when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be loosed out of his prison. Rev 20:8  And he will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle. The number of them is as the sand of the sea.) The dragon mentioned in this next verse is satan. (Rev 13:4  And they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast. And they worshiped the beast, saying, Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with it?) This beast powered by satan will perform miracles and murder true christians. (Rev 13:14  And it deceives those dwelling on the earth, because of the miracles which were given to it to do before the beast, saying to those dwelling on the earth that they should make an image to the beast who had the wound by a sword and lived. Rev 13:15  And there was given to it to give a spirit to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast might both speak, and might cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed.) Will we be ready for all this ?

The world will always criticize and hate Christians, most of all.  It is because the Devil rules this world, until the return of Jesus Christ in all of His glory.

As far as which is deceiving the world more...religion or government...that is easy.  It is government, especially left-wing totalitarian government in the style of socialism and communism.  It is true that way back in the Middle ages some religions acted in brutal ways.  But ever since the 1700s with the Enlightenment and the reform of almost all religions to more compassionate ideals, government has caused the most damage to the freedom of individuals.

  It was Christianity which influenced the Founding Fathers of all free societies.  This included the eradication of slavery in modern cultures, the free market system, which encourages the growth of humanity and freedom, and the values that comprise most free societies today.

   In contrast, governments that have leaned to the political left and become socialist or communist have generally squashed the free practice of religion, which is the motivation for free society.  When the government increases, the individual decreases.  The American society, with its free practice of religion, free market economic system, and smaller government became the most successful society of our times because of these principles.  Europe has been on the decline ever since socialist principles have taken over and the people expect to be cared for from cradle to grave by their government.

I hope I have given you something to ponder and research further, as these principles are of utmost importance to us today.  It is crucial that we learn to see larger government as the true restriction of human freedom instead of religion.

First, let me define what most people think of as God: An all-powerful being, who created the universe, who is all-good. Now, you would think that a universe created by such a being would be a wonderful place to live in. Of course, as we all know, this is not the case. Innocent children get raped by pedophiles. Criminal CEO's rob people of billions and get away with it. People in third world countries work their asses off and yet they live horrible lives. If God is both willing and capable of stopping these perversions of justice, then why doesnt he? The answer, of course, is that he doesn't exist.
