Im FLYING to LackLand AFB. and I need help!?

So, I'm expecting my husband to graduate April 9th 2010, I was planning to fly out there April 7th 2010 (Wednesday).... I am not old enough to rent a car.... so my questions are :

When should I book my hotel and flight?... I can buy insurance ( in case plans change) there's a hotel i really want to get, and its really close to the base ( a half a mile) .... which leads to my next question.... can i walk on base with my military ID?...and my final question is...do they offer transportation on base?

As early as possible. If you have a way of getting a lower fare guarantee, do that too.

If you are a dependent, you can even try to get billeting on base using stand by (not a good bet thought).

The airport will offer shuttles to the base and to local hotels as well. And then there are the hotel shuttles. Taxi cabs work as well, but tend to be a pain. Walking is acceptable, but the roads near the base are not the safest.

Check with the transportation squadron. They may also be setting up specific bus routes for graduation.

    Good luck.

I would book the flight and hotel as soon as you have a confirmed date, but don't wait too long because if it is less than 3 weeks to graduation the price will be much higher. Yes, you can walk on base with your military ID. They have a shuttle service on base and you can ask at the gate which bus to get on.
