Seat belt won't release?

Hiya. I have a 96 Ford Explorer and recently the seat belt button got stuck pushed in. It had gotten pushed in when the seat belt wasn't in and I can't get it to release. Now I can't wear the seat belt at all. I've tried everything. Any ideas? Thanks in advance =)

no matter what you do to fix it it wont be right. go to a u-pullit type yard or auto-salvage and get a replacement. it will take 5 minutes to swap out in your truck and you wil be safe. dont monkey around with safety items. swap it out. maby cost five dollars and a few minutes. its only one bolt holds it down and one wire clip, so 3minutes.be safe.

I do not think they are bad - I think that you have them mounted improperly due to differences in the design of the 2 cars. If the retractor end of the belt is not mounted in the exact same position and orientation that it was installed in the car it was built for what happens is there is a weight which is designed to lock the belt where ever it is, instantly, when the vehicle is not level ( rolls onto side or roof ) or experiences a sudden change in direction (collision impact in any direction ) and once locked it will not unlock until 2 things happen: First the retractor must be returned to it's normal level position and second any tension must be released from the belt webbing. This is the reason that seat belts will lock unexpectedly when you hit a bad pothole or you are driving on a rough road. If you can reorient them properly they should work just fine but if it is not possible to orient them correctly in your car you will need to get a set which are designed to fit your vehicle.

May be trash inside binding it. Press release button and blow compressed air in different directions. Tap on it, and blow some more. Wear eye protection.
