Here are a couple of instruction sites for you to make your choice. If it would help you, put it into your "favorites" so you wont loose it.

    http://www.craftown.com/crolesson.htm

This next one has the instructions as above but when you learn that, this is much, much more for you to learn

this next one is also instructions either in written or video, your choice.

There are many clearly written books either on crochet alone or on general needlework which include crochet. The illustrations are easy to understand and follow and you go at your pace - not a video's. I believe Reader's Digest put out a book years ago which is very good. Check out Half Price Books or even ebay for less expensive vintage books (basic crochet hasn't changed so why pay extra for a current book?)

At annies attic they have some little tiny videos that go slow enough to see the stitches. Start with the learning how to chain, single crochet, half double crochet, and then the double crochet. Once you learn these stitches start picking out others to learn.

SC - stick the hook into your work, pull up a loop, wrap your yarn over the hook from the back and pull through the two loops on the hook TA DA!

DC - wrap your yarn over the hook from the back, stick hook into your work and pull up a loop, wrap yarn over the hook from the back again, pull through TWO loops only, wrap yarn over once more and pull through the remaining loops TA DA!

HDC - wrap your yarn over the hook from the back, stick hook into your work and pull up a loop, wrap yarn over the hook from the back again and pull through all three loops on the hook

an hdc is started like a dc but finished like an sc
