7 week old teacup Chihuahua puppy and housebreaking?
I bought a 7 week old teacup chihuahua and the first couple of days he did really well with his puppy pads. However, now he is using the bathroom on the rugs throughout the house. Does anyone have any ideas to what I could do? I am working on a walking schedule for him now but if you have any other ideas, please let me know.
Some people are such jerks. First off, my dog is not badly bred. He is a full teacup chihuahua. Another thing, if there is no such thing as a teacup then there sure as h*ll is no such thing as a toy. Next, I did not get him from a breeder. He came from a friend who has two TEACUP/TOY chihuahuas.
And if you are just going to come up with stupid, dumba** answers just to earn points, don't bother posting on my questions

OK - a 7 week old badly bred runt and he's not trained right yet - BAD DOG!
Give him a break. For heavens sake, he is an undersized baby, I'm amazed he has been able to get it right for a few days. Take him outside to teach him to wee and poo out there not indoors. Please don't walk him anywhere until the vet is happy he's had all his shots (usually 12-14 weeks) or you will have a dead puppy. Routine - every hour on the hour, and after meals, or playing or sleeping is when he should be taken outside to do his business. NO growling at mistakes, simply push him outside if you catch him in the act and tell him "outside".
Good Luck - I feel you will need it.

Small dogs are very hard to house train. I would not recommend puppy pads to ANYONE unless you are away and the dog is in a cage. To house train any puppy your just going to have to let the dog out every hour so It doesn't go to the bathroom in the house. Even at night when I got a miniature pincher I was waking up ever two hours after I went to bed so the dog would eventually learn thats where they have to go. Your going to have to sit outside with the dog until he/she goes to the bathroom and praise he/she when they do.

Teach him to go outside, not on puppy pads. This site has tips and tricks for chihuahua potty training:

You shouldn't have a dog that small on your bed.You could roll on it or it could fall of and seriously injure itself. You need to keep it in a crate until it is housebroken, and then if you want it to sleep on the bed when it is older, you need to get a set of those doggy stairs for it.

Hi,
Nobody likes cleaning up doggie accidents especially when they're in your own home. Here are some tips to help train your dog to avoid making those messes in the first place:

Tea cups aren't hard to train they just sit on shelves--------oh you are talking about a runt Chi. get rid of the pads and take the dog out on a set schedule. Unless you want a dog that pees and poops in your house forever.
Runts...I mean tiny dogs like that would need to go out immediately after each meal or water and several time in between

Take Him outside, training a dog inside iisn't right. make him go "potty" outside or he will go inside at all times. and not on a pad honey.(:
